Photographer registry office costs - Why there is more to it than 2 hours of photos
For many couples, the civil wedding ceremony is the first official step into a life together - and deserves just as much attention as any other type of wedding. So it's no wonder that many bridal couples want to capture this moment professionally in pictures.
But when looking at price lists, the question quickly arises: Why does a photographer for the registry office cost several hundred euros - even though the shoot only takes two hours?
In this article, we explain: What's behind the prices of a professional photographer? And why this investment is absolutely justified - especially if you want real, emotional and high-quality memories.
If you are looking for a stylish, elegant and romantic wedding with a rural flair, then a wedding at Hofgut Dagobertshausen is the perfect choice. The location combines rustic charm with modern exclusivity - nestled in the beautiful countryside of Central Hesse near Marburg. No wonder the Hofgut is one of the most popular wedding venues in Hesse.
I am Lea Weber, a wedding photographer with over 11 years of experience and have accompanied countless couples on their big day at Hofgut Dagobertshausen. For me, the location is one of the most beautiful in the whole of Germany - not only because of its aesthetics, but also because of the atmosphere, the versatility and the lovely, professional team on site.
In this article, you'll find out everything you need to know about the Dagobertshausen wedding: What options are available, what makes the location so special, what you should look out for - and how we, as an experienced team of photographers and videographers, can capture your story there.
How much does a photographer for the registry office cost?
The price for a 2-hour registry office reportage is €750 (incl. VAT). This includes
The complete accompaniment of your wedding ceremony incl. champagne reception, congratulations and bridal couple shoot
All pictures (approx. 150-300) in high resolution
Basic retouching of all images (colour, contrast, sharpness)
Elaborate post-processing of the bridal couple shoot (incl. skin retouching)
Provision of images via a protected online gallery
But that's just the visible part. Because there is much more behind these two hours.
Why 2 hours is not the same as 2 hours
Many couples think: "The photographer is there for two hours, takes a few pictures - that's it." The truth is different:
Preliminary discussion & planning
Every shoot begins with an intensive dialogue. You tell me what is important to you, what processes are planned and what you want from the pictures.Arrival & preparation
Depending on the location, travelling time, finding a parking space and set-up time are added - often 30-60 minutes extra. The actual shoot
We accompany you with experience and sensitivity - from the entrance to the wedding ceremony to the champagne reception. Everything is documented discreetly but effectively.Image selection & post-processing
This is the biggest, often invisible part of the work: every single picture is viewed, selected, optimised and - in the case of the bridal couple shoot - professionally retouched. Two hours on location can quickly add up to 3-4 hours of post-processing.
In short: you don't get 2 hours of service - you get a whole experience and memories for life.
What makes a good registry office photo?
Civil wedding ceremonies often have little room for posing or staging. This makes it all the more important to find the right moment.
Emotions - the tears of joy, the smile when saying "I do", the first hug after the ceremony
The photographer's eye for detail - the decorations in the wedding room, your rings, your bridal bouquet
Dynamics - guests congratulating, spontaneous reactions, real movements
A professional photographer recognises these moments - and captures them without being distracting. This is exactly what distinguishes good pictures from interchangeable ones.
What is included in our registry office package?
Our "Civil wedding ceremony" package for €750 (incl. VAT) includes everything you need for lasting memories:
2 hours of on-site support (wedding ceremony, champagne reception, couple photos)
Professional image editing of all photos
Elaborate retouching of the bridal couple portraits
Online gallery for easy sharing with guests
All images in full resolution - without watermarks, without hidden costs
The package is ideal for weddings in Frankfurt's Römer, Palmengarten, Bolongaropalast or comparable registry offices.
Why is it worth hiring a professional photographer for the registry office?
Of course you can also ask someone from the family to take a few pictures. But:
This person only experiences your wedding ceremony through the viewfinder
The images are usually uncoordinated, blurred or without emotional focus
You risk missing crucial moments - and not being able to repeat them later
A professional photographer not only ensures quality - but also emotion, atmosphere and a smooth process. You can relax and enjoy the moment.
How do the costs for wedding reportages differ?
Depending on your daily schedule, we also offer longer reports:
from 6 hours reportage: 2100 €
from 8 hours reportage: 2500 €
from 10 hours reportage: 2850 €
from 12 hours reportage (incl. 2nd photographer): 3000 €
The longer the accompaniment, the more comprehensive the insight into your day - from getting ready to the party. Extras such as a wooden box, high-quality prints or a photo album are included for larger reportages. Video services can also be booked on top. On request, you can also book video reportages, drone shots, after-wedding shoots or a fusion video - for an even more emotional review. This is perfect if you don't just want pictures, but also moving memories.
What else influences the costs of a photographer?
Quality of the equipment (cameras, lenses, light, backup systems)
Experience & style of the photographer (value of the artistic work)
Processing time (often 2-3 working days per shoot)
Reliability & service (contract, security, punctuality, support)
So you're not just paying for time - you're investing in security, professionalism and results that will last a lifetime.
Good photos cost money - but they are priceless
A photo shoot for a registry office is not "just a short assignment". It is a well thought-out, creative and emotional craft. And when you flick through your album in 30 years' time, you'll be glad you made this decision.
